The Worst of Gambling Case Philippines about Prostitution Issue
You may already heard about gambling case Philippines, especially in prostitution issue. Employees from online gaming companies in the Philippines have been detained for their ties to prostitution rings.
Before further discussion, gambling has been practiced in the Philippines since at least the sixteenth century. Various forms of legal and illegal gaming can be found practically everywhere on the archipelago.
About Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR)
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), a state-owned corporation that owns a number of individual casinos while also acting as a regulator for privately owned casino operators, oversees gambling.
PAGCOR has also awarded operational licenses and managed the supervision of the growing online gaming industry serving overseas markets since 2016. With more than twenty casinos in Metro Manila alone, casino gaming and integrated resorts have become a crucial component of the Philippines’ allure as a tourist destination.
POGOs Caught Gambling Case Philippines for Prostitution
The National Bureau of Investigation has conducted three raids on prostitution dens that provide services to employees of the Philippine Gaming Offshore Operators in the last month (POGO).
Now, Quezon City Representative Precious Hipolito-Castelo is demanding that authorities investigate the prostitution networks that cater to POGO workers.
“It is frightening that there are existent enterprises in Metro Manila that cater exclusively to POGO workers, palpably indicating the scenario that these workers are slowly but steadily forming a community in our country,” she says.
Where The Prostitution Happened?
This has been a problem for quite some time. Three persons were recently detained for running a prostitution ring out of a fancy hotel in Pasay. Liang Feng and Lu Fu Xing were the suspected ringleaders, and Chen Xun Bo of POGO was also arrested after being seen indulging in sexual activities at the time.
One of the rooms was reportedly utilized as a “viewing room.” The other three were areas where clients might engage in sexual activity with prostitutes. Clients allegedly paid P5000 for 30 minutes of service.
The sting resulted in the rescue of six women. As a result, the two leaders may face charges of human trafficking.
The NBI has conducted several sting operations. The NBI rescued nearly 100 women from a high-end karaoke bar in Makati that was being used as a front for a prostitution ring earlier this month. Many of the clients are suspected to be POGO employees.
PAGCOR: Gambling Authority In The Philippines
If you’re unfamiliar with the scenario in the Philippines when it comes to internet gambling, POGOs are companies that operate out of the country to provide gaming services to those living abroad. The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation has granted them operating permits (PAGCOR).
PAGCOR has issued licenses to 56 POGOs in the Philippines as of this writing. POGOs employ around 138,000 people from other countries, with more than half of them having work permits. Only 17 percent of the people who work for POGOs are Filipino citizens.
“This is one of the POGO-related offenses. “These syndicates tend to meet their requirements when you bring a large number of people here,” explains NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin.
As a result, while POGOs bring in vital tax income to the Philippines, they also appear to bring crime with them. The exact scope of the POGOs firm’s participation with prostitution rings will be determined through an investigation into the matter.
